Blue, Angel Soprano
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Angel Blue just finished her second season as a Domingo-Thornton Young Artist at LA Opera where she sang the roles of Suor Osmina in Suor Angelica and Micaela in student matinee performances of Carmen. Her company debut was as Musetta in student matinee performances of La Bohème, conducted by Maestros Plácido Domingo and Jose Miguel Esandi, and in the same season she sang Suzy in La Rondine.

Before joining LA Opera, Ms. Blue received a Masters of Music degree in Opera Performance from UCLA. She made her orchestral debut at age 21 with the Redlands Symphony with conductor Jon Robertson. Some of her operatic roles include the title role in Suor Angelica, the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Jenny in Threepenny Opera, Helena and Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Giuletta in The Tales of Hoffmann, Belinda and Dido in Dido and Aeneas, and Ruggiero in Alcina.

Ms. Blue has received awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Palm Springs Opera Guild Competition, ACT-SO NAACP Classical Voice Competition, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion’s Emerging Young Entertainers Award, and the Redlands Bowl Competition.
