Vuong, Karen Soprano
Roles sung by Karen Vuong, who joined the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in 2013/14, during the 2015/16 season are the Countess in Die Hochzeit des Figaro/Le nozze di Figaro, Imelda in concert performances of Oberto, Gerhilde in Die Walküre and Micaëla in a new production of Carmen. This American soprano's most recent roles for the company were Mimì (La Bohème), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Mrs. Julian (Owen Wingrave), a Flower Maiden (Parsifal), Donna Elvira (role debut) in Don Giovanni and she enjoyed great success with the title role in Dvořáks Rusalka. Karen Vuong made her debuts with Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) at Santa Barbara Opera, Trang / Nurse, in the world premiere of Daron Hagen's Amelia, at Seattle Opera and Sophie (Massenet's Werther) at Kentucky Opera. This young singer received a scholarship from the Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program run by Los Angeles Opera, where she has appeared in several productions. She studied at the Juilliard School in New York and has enjoyed great success at competitions including the »Eastern Regional Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions« and »Marilyn Horne Lieder Competition«.
